Dr Michelle Ralph is a GP with extended role in Dermatology providing a community based dermatology and minor surgery service for the patients of Uttlesford at Saffron Walden Community Hospital.
Michelle qualified at St Bartholomew’s Medical School in 1991 and has been a GP for 25 years with interests in Diabetes, Dermatology, Minor Surgery and Coil fitting. Her passion for dermatology lead to her becoming one of the first cohort to complete the Barts London dermatology diploma in 2002 and she qualified as GP with extended role in Dermatology and Minor Surgery in 2003.
An active member of the British association of Dermatologists, Michelle lectures and teaches dermatology to medical students and GP’s and sits on the Primary Care Dermatology Society committee a forum where GP’s can exchange views develop skills and progress clinical research in dermatology.
Diagnostic assessment of skin lumps/bumps/cysts/naevi/basal cell papilloma
Bacterial infections / fungal infections
Skin tumours (not squamous cell carcinoma or melanoma
Undiagnosed bullous eruptions
Disorders of hair / disorders of nails
Assessment of difficult or symptomatic warts / verrucae where treatment in primary care has failed to resolve the problem.
Minor surgical procedures.

Melanoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Extensive skin problems in systemically ill patients
Rare inherited disorders such as Dariers, Neurofibromatosis
Severe Psoriasis that may require biologics or light therapy
Disorders that may require hospital admission e.g. Erythoderma
Disorders requiring hospital only prescriptions e.g. Leg ulcers or parasitic infections
Urgent referrals requiring an appointment within 24hrs
Genital Ulcers / STD’s
